What is Igf-1, and what does it do?

IGF-1 or (Somatomedin C) is the end result after HGH is produced and excreted by the pituitary gland. It is then processed by the liver and converted into IGF-1. IGF-1 is the primary benificial factor in HGH.

As we age, our bodies slow down in the production process of IGF-1. The pituitary gland still produces HGH, but the excretion slows down as much as 25% by age 55. Because the excretion slows down there is less HGH for the liver to convert into IGF-1. 

IGF-1 has an effect on almost evey part of the body on a cellular level. The area's  this is most evident is in the muscle, nerve, skin, bone, cartilage,lungs, liver, kidney, and cellular DNA synthesis.

A little History on Velvet Antler
